This Baroque palace from the 18th century rose around the old tower of the Diaz of Arce, housing diplomats during the reign of Felipe V. The palace, built around the tower, is flanked by a monumental three storey stone staircase, and the freizes, columns and pilasters add to Baroque majesty of this imposing building. The interiors have been beautifully decorated by Paco Estrena, with warm colours and tasteful furniture and many of the bathrooms have hydromassage baths. Traditional cuisine is served in the dining room. Without leaving Villacarriedo one can visit many 18th century monuments, the parochial church, the Hermitage of the Conception, the academy where Leon Felipe studied. The interesting towns of Tezanos, Alonos, Abiondo, Santander and the Valley of the Pas are close by. Located just a few kilometres from the hotel is Santander. The bay and beaches in this area are exceptionally beautiful.
