Awaiting 2012 prices from the hotel.
This simple old village house, dating back to the 18th century, has been completely renovated by owners Inma and Miguel. The inn lies behind the Romanesque church of Santa Marta in the medieval town of Uncastillo--a little jewel. The main entrance has the same stone floor as the neighbouring Santa Marta square. On the ground floor are the dining room, furnished with ceramic and wood tables where breakfast is sometimes served in front of a roaring log fire. There is a cosy wood-beamed lounge. The rooms are named after a church in the village and although they are small they are tastefully decorated with wrought-iron headboards, matching prints, dried flowers, antique washbasins and are equipped with television. For Romanesque lovers this is an exciting place to visit--there are 6 Romanesque churches in the village and a castle from the 12th century. The interesting inn is located 105 km. from Zaragoza and 87 km. from Pamplona. There are nine double rooms. Inma and Miguel are wonderful hosts and are passionate about the history and beauty of Uncastillo. There are two very pleasant little restaurants within minutes of the Posada la Pastora -- Miguel will give you directions. (He may also be pursuaded to give you a tour of Uncastillo, although there are excellent guided tours lasting approximately one hour and he will help to arrange these for you). This inn does not accept American Express credit cards.
Notes

Owners were most helpfull to answer any questions and go out of their way to give directions to points of interest in the area and describe the village. They made reservations for us at the nearby restaurant. Although Uncastillo is off the beaten path, it has a lot to offer and Posada La Pastora was a wonderful place to stay.

The welcome from Miguel was outstanding. He immediately made us a cup of coffee and spent considerable time describing points of interest and restaurants in order that we could make the most of our stay in Uncastillo. The hotel was immaculate and had lots of character. Little touches, such as candles up the stairs very much added to the ambience. No evening meal available, but very good restaurant about 5 minute walk away and even umbrellas were provided if required.

Uncastillo is a magical place and our host helped us to feel welcome for our short visit. The inn has been restored beautifully to offer all the modern comforts in a setting that fits with the rich history of the village. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

Great place to stay. Rooms; food and service was first class. Highly recommended. Miguel was most friendly and helpfull. Uncastillo is also a good place to use as a base to explore the surrounding countryside.

We very much enjoyed our overnight stay there. The rooms were very comfortable and Miguel was very gracious and more than willing to help us with our travel arrangements by suggesting places to see and the best route to take, as well as helping us with the bank machine! We would highly recommend this inn and wish that we'd had more time to tour the village and the surrounding area.

Of course Miguel is delightful: so kind, so friendly, so interested in making sure his guests enjoy themselves in Uncastillo. By the way, the AV presentation at the Iglesia de San Martin was one of the best done and most moving we have ever seen. We told Miguel it "knocked our socks off," which he immediately wrote down.

The accomodation was excellent, clean airy bright and cool which was quite important for the unaccustomed!! Miguel was extremely helpful, taking time to sit and advise us about what was in the area. The only criticism I have, and it is a petty one, but more coffee at breakfast instead of having to ask for more, and asking the guests what they like for breakfast. Neither of us eat meat and there was lots of meat, so perhaps it is a wastage for them. I appreciate that our level of Spanish was non existent, and that may have been a reason. I would absolutely recommend this as a place to stay. The village is very pretty and the people were very friendly. Sinead

Everything was clean, neat and working. The owner was very helpful. The only minus is a bit poor acoustical insulation of the ceiling
