Prices in high season reflect 3 night minimum. Hotel is closed on Monday. The Posada is the result of the restoration and renovation of a splendid building constructed of granite and wood on several floors and next to an adjoining castle. From one of the floors there is access to the garden from which one gets to the parking area and to the adjoining castle. (The entire castle is available to clients who wish to spend a weekend with friends or family, ask us about costs. There are four double rooms in the Castle). The most significant building in Somaen, the hexagonal Arab castle dates from 1100 and is a national monument. Once belonging to the Ducado de Medinacelli and given as a reward by King Enrique III in 1376 for services rendered in the wars, the castle is a fascinating building. The completely restored castle has five floors on which there are three guest rooms and three lounges for guests of the pousada and castle. There are six more guestrooms in the Posada building and all have modern amenities of satellite t.v., minibar, telephone, heating and air conditioning. The rooms have a surprising and attractive blend of old and new with some of the furniture from noted architectural designers: Le Corbusier, Charles Eames, Normal Foster, Philip Stark. The restaurant is situated on the lowest floor and has a big window looking out over the garden. Regional cuisine is offered, and there is also a bodega (wine cellar) with a wonderful selection of Spanish wines. Interesting use has been made of fibre optic lights which light up the castle and the village, and glass has been used in the structure so that parts of the original construction are visible from several floors.
Notes Somaen is halfway between Madrid and Zaragoza at 167 km. Medinacelli is 14 km. away, Santa Maria de la Huerta (Cistercian monastery). Many walks in the area. Fishing. Two golf courses within 30 minutes. The Posada-Castle is at the highest point of the village of Somaen and has lovely views over the village and surrounding area.

For Mainland Spain (peninsula)
For stays of 1 or 2 nights: If cancelled more than 7 days prior to reservation, no hotel penalty. If cancelled within seven days of reservation the hotel will charge the amount of one night.
For stays of 3 nights or more: if cancelled within seven days of reservation, hotel will charge 30% of entire stay. In cases where client has booked three or more nights and shortens the number of days reserved (upon arrival or during stay), the hotel will charge 30% of the cost of the remaining nights. In case of no-show, 100% of complete stay charged.
Balearic & Canary Islands
If cancelled between fifteen and eight days of reservation date, the hotel will charge 50% of the total nights reserved. If cancelled seven or less days prior to reservation date, hotel will charge total amount of stay. In case of no-show, 100% of complete stay charged.
