Airlines flying to Seville
Quite a few airlines fly to Seville. Try Iberia and Spanair for local connections.
Walking in Seville:
It is always better to be a pedestrian in Seville – in fact it’s almost impossible to see the old town by car. Take a map with you – especially when trying to find your way around the old town and Barrio Santa Cruz.
Buses:
Buses and trams are easy to take to get around the city, particularly if you are planning to go outside the main downtown area. If you are in the city for some time it’s worth purchasing a bónobus at a kiosco or newsstand. They are also available at tobacco shops. For stays of a month, you need a monthly pass. The bus network is consists of circular and line routes: the circular are called C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4 buses and line routes are north, south, east and west. City buses can be taken from the main locations below and they are also easy to find on the main avenues.
Puerta de Jerez; Plaza de la Encarnacion: La Barqueta: Prado de San Sebastian (There are road alterations taking place at the Plaza Nueva stop, so you can no longer catch the bus there.)
Approximate costs and information: You can purchase a pass with or without a transfer. For city buses, tickets for a single journey are approximately 1.30 euros; one day pass 4.50 euros, three day pass 8.50 euros; 30 day pass is 30 euros
Other useful information on taking the bus:
(a) exact change is needed
(b) wave the bus down at the bus stop (if you are the only person there)
(c) Typically there is no bus service after 11:30 p.m.
(d) If you want to get off the bus at the next stop you need to ring the bell
(e) on some buses the door is opened by pushing a button at the side of the door
Getting to and from the airport by bus:
Seville airport is about 10 Kilometres north east of the city, on the A4 (was NIV) motorway to Cordoba and Madrid at km 533. There is a half hourly bus service from 06.15 to 23.00 to the Santa Justa railway station in the centre of the city. The cost of a single ticket is 2.30 Euro. The route is Puerta de Jerez and there are stops in streets Palos de la Frontera, Pedro de Castro, Enramadilla, avenida San Francisco Javier, Luis de Morales y Avenida Kansas City (next to Santa Justa station). The bus EA runs a regular service to and from the city and the main railway station.
Trams:
The tram connects Plaza Nueva with the Prado de San Sebastian bus station, just 1.3 km – it covers a pedestrian area only. The stops are at : Plaza Nueva : Avenide Constitucion : Puerta de Jerez (in front of Hotel Alfonso XII and the University) : Prado de San Sebastian (next to the bus station). The price of a single ticket is 1 euro (purchase from the machine at the stop). If you have purchased bus tickets or transfers these can be combined with the tram ticket.
Trains:
The main train station in Seville is Santa Justa, located on Avenida Kansas City. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from there to the centre (and it is sometimes faster to walk it than to take a taxi because of gridlock situations in the old town). A taxi will cost about 6 euros, and it’s also possible to catch bus 32 to the centre.
If you are leaving on a journey from Santa Justa station, you may buy your tickets at the station in the RENFE office or from RENFE’s online site. This site will give you a list of all the possible destinations, schedules and prices - http://www.renfe.com/horarios/english/index.html [Tutorial]. If you are travelling to or from Madrid we recommend the high speed AVE train.
