In the heart of Palma's old town - barrio gotica - near the cathedral and within easy walking distance of Palma's many attractions, bars and restaurants, is this restored 16th century mansion, opened as a small city hotel in 2001. The building has been kept as an authentic mansion - so the ceilings are tall and the floors tiled, the style sober. There are records showing that the building was in existence in 1444. There are twenty three guestrooms of varying sizes, all ensuite and decorated in authentic Mallorcan style with antiques and fascinating historic artworks. Many of the rooms have a jacuzzi bath and all have safe, television, minibar and air conditioning. Breakfast may be taken in the pleasant flower-filled courtyard. Some of the rooms have a balcony. There is no restaurant at this inn, but it is within easy walking distance of small local eating places - from tapas bars to elegant restaurants. While the location is excellent for walking around Palma, it is advisable not to bring a car-- it is easy to take a taxi from the airport (only a 15 minute drive) and to explore the town on foot. The cost of a taxi from the airport is around 15 - 20 euros. There is a public parking lot within a five minute walk and you can drop off your luggage before finding the car park. If you wish to explore the island, it is easy to organise a rental car on a daily basis. Because Dalt Murada is in the centre of the old town, it can be difficult to find - another reason to get a taxi from the airport so you can get your bearings on arrival.
