This Cortijo (farmhouse) is over 300 years old and has been beautifully restored to provide elegant and luxurious accommodation in fascinating surroundings. The estate was previously owned by a famous bullfighter (torero), Pedro Barrera Elbal, who was local to the area. The property is close to the city of Caravaca de la Cruz, recognised as the fifth holiest city in Christendom and the villages of La Almudema and La Encarnacion. Situated by a pine forest and surrounded by almond groves and fruit trees, this is a natural, quiet place to relax. The cortijo has five luxury ensuite bedrooms each with a comfortable seating area. Inside the grounds are a large swimming pool, pine shaded garden and an outdoor kitchen. Cooking, language and art classes are offered in the summer months - ask us for more information. The Cortijo is open from March to October only. Breakfast is available 'al fresco' on the terrace (weather permitting) or in the dining room. Light meals are available at lunchtime for those guests making use of the pool. Dinner is available to guests, prepared in-house and should be booked 24 hours in advance. It will generally consist of a selection of canapés/tapas, starter, main course, dessert and coffee. Wine is included with dinner. There are no facilities for children here and no extra beds are available.
Meal Information
Mediterranean Cuisine (please order in advance) €20 p.p including wine.
Notes There are festivals in Caravaca de la Cruz throughout the year. The Festival of the Wine Horses in May has marches, concerts and parades, but the racing of the wine horses as a part of the Blessing of the Wine ceremony is unique. Of medieval origin, the competition features powerful horses making a 10 second dash up to the Sanctuary of the Cross.
