Note that prices vary for Christmas, New Year's Eve and Easter. This inn, on the island of Lanzarote, is a typical country house built at the end of the 18th century. Situated in Mozaga, the geographical and agricultural centre of the island, it is surrounded by 40.000 m2 of fields where native plants are grown. The main building consists of various rectangular whitewashed buildings in perfect harmony with green woodwork, as the tradition of the island dictates. A spectacular entrance to the property is preceded by one large naked stone and a typical garden of black sand and colourful vegetation. Guests are welcomed by Maria Luisa & Gonzalo Rodriguez de Bethencourt, who decided to come back to their mother island to run this pretty hotel. The house has kept the flavor of bygone days--thick walls--keeping the interior cool on hot days-- pyramidal windows, wooden floors, high ceilings with wood beans and an interior patio with a gallery bursting with local vegetation. The interior has been sensitively decorated to evoke the original aesthetics; antique furniture, white plain bedcovers and wrought iron headboards which are subtly mixed with more modern facilities-- telephone, satellite television, hair-dryer, minibar and Internet access. The chef blends Basque and Mediterranean recipes and is pleased to create local dishes for guests. Breakfasts are English style, with different types of bread, juices, savouries, cereals, dried fruits and eggs. There are six double rooms and two suites in the hotel, which is located 10 km. from the airport.
Notes Natural park of Timanfaya, Cave of Los Verdes (book in advance). Visit the wine museum and the wine cellar of Grifo, San Jose Castle and Guanapay. Close to lovely beaches.
