Please note that this little hotel does not have extra beds in high season (July and August). The maximum number of people per room over this period 2. There is no public transport to this inn which is outside Granada. You definitely need a car to fully enjoy the area.
Patricia and Jose Manuel chose the dramatic landscapes of the Natural Park of Sierra Nevada in which to build this spectacular small hotel, which is sensitively incorporated into the countryside respecting nature in every way. There is a flowing swimming pool and more than 300 square metres of terraces from which to enjoy the lovely views. The textures in the hotel, and in the rooms, are rich with contrasting rough and smooth finishes--Stone and ceramics, steel and crystal, tapestries and linens. Rooms have internet connection, television, telephone and a minibar. The decoration is a vibrant combination of regional and modern. The restaurant serves traditional recipes that have been adapted to use produce of the area and there are special gastronomic days featuring special menus. Dinners are approximately 20 euros/person. Only 20 minutes from Sierra Nevada skiing and 20 minutes to the centre of Granada. The drive to the hotel from Monachil is up a steep, winding country road. The owners of Almunia del Valle will give you a map and directions of how to get into Granada; although it is not a long distance, it is easy to make mistakes once you are on the Ronda Sur road.
Family Information
The hotel doesn't have family rooms, but in some rooms an extra child bed (up to 7 years) may be added. Baby cribs are free. For a family, the hotel has two rooms next to each other – one with matrimonial bed and one with twin beds.
Meal Information
The restaurant is only open to guests. Traditional, 35€. Closed on Sunday.
Notes
Travel the villages of the Alpujarra, the botanical gardens of the Cortijuela. Parapenting, rafting, horseriding, 4x4, skiing. From the hotel to Granada by taxi costs approx. 16 euros. The hotel is about 1 km. from the centre of Monachil and there is a bus from there into Granada. If you are driving from the hotel into Granada, be very sure once you are on the Ronda Sur NOT to miss your turning into the centre of Granada. If you do, it is a long way (going in the wrong direction) before you can turn and go back. The hotel has arrangement with local ski hills for packages.

Any applicable City and regional taxes (usually in the range of 1-3 euros per person/night) are collected by the hotel at checkout.

Charming hosts and beautiful views and room. Dinner was excellent. The drive to the hotel was through lovely countryside.

Favorite inn by far. Patricia and her husband Jose Manuel were so gracious and the pride they take in their inn was so eviden. Their attention to little details that make a difference was outstanding. Beautifully decorated and the terrace and pool area so relaxing. The dinner was one of the best meals we had in Spain. I wish we had stayed longer. When we return to Spain, I will plan on it.

This place is not so easy to find, but we were adequately forewarned and made quick work of the drive. And was it ever worth it! Wonderfully peaceful surroundings and comfortable, interesting rooms, dining areas, "lounge," etc. And it takes very little time to drive to the Alhambra parking. Excellent all around.

The location, the garden/swimming pool and the room. The complementary mini-bar is also a nice touch.
Didn't Like:
The value-for-money in the restaurant is questionable.

Nice break from towns. Dinner a bit overpriced. I didn't mind having no choice of selections (we knew in advance) but serving ice cream for dessert seemed a bit cheap. Otherwise great setting, nice hosts, spacious room, lovely public areas.

I loved this place and only wish I'd had longer to spend there. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind, the scenery is stunning, the food delicious, the staff delightful and the prices very reasonable. I would go back there in a second and would definitely recommend it. My only disappointment was that it was a bit too cold in early May to use the pool...but this is a great excuse to go back and make full use of the facilities.

Very nice hostess. beautiful setting. great breakfast. lovely room, absolutely everything was provided one could possibly need/ run out of.
Didn't Like:
The 1km access road is a nightmare..really nasty hidden bends at the ends of long single track areas. We felt trapped as we did not wish to brave the dangerous road (and possibly damage the hire car..would have not been so bad if in our own car), took a taxi or walked and worried about getting out in one piece!!!! the food was very tasty and good except the steak and veg were cold one day the soup was quite cold another.

The owners were very kind and helpful. A few things still need to be finished but we will be recommending this hotel to our friends.

Superb location and views. Owners very welcoming. Dinner was very good with local fresh ingredients, but a little expensive. Good directions and easy to find, but rather exciting last mile up narrow mountain road.

The hotel is a very nice place. But the innkeeper doesn't speak a single word of english. That makes the stay a little difficult.
