La Maragateria is a lovely region to explore. Savvy travellers make their way to Luyego, where the plains of Leon meet the mountainous silhouette of the Teleno mountains (2190 m), to stay in this beautiful country hotel. Its two Maragata structures along with the central courtyard that unites them represent a unique place to delight in the local history and culture of the region. The architecture tastefully brings together all of the elements that typify the region, such as granite ashlars, terracotta floor tiles, exposed wooden beams, wooden windows and large solid-wood doors, and wrought iron throughout. Each of the nine rooms is uniquely decorated with fine wood on floors and ceilings, rustic furniture and exposed brickwork. After settling into this lovely hotel, enjoying the local cuisine is must (evening meals approximately 22 euros).

Notes La Maragateria is a beautiful region that beckons visitors to explore its valleys, slopes and peaks by bicycle or on foot. From Luyego León and Astorga are within reach, and trekking along the breathtaking Maragato-Berciano sections of the Camino de Santiago (St. James´s Way pilgrimage) is strongly recommended.
