Surrounded by a sea of green, you step through a stunning stone arch which serves as the entrance to the Hotel Zubieta. The bamboo path leads you to a late 18th century building, which was originally the stables of the baroque Zubieta Palace, with its delightful crisscross timber facade. The interior combines curtains, textiles and rugs with original terracotta floors, carved wooden doors and lattice banisters. The whole building has a comfortable, informal feel to it: the fireplace entices you to sit beside it in the cold weather with a steaming drink in hand, and the summer sun draws you to the terrace, with views of the lush surroundings. The hotel has twelve rooms, eight double rooms and four apartments that will accommodate four people. All rooms have satellite TV, telephone, safe and a complete bathroom and are outward-facing. Each room, suite and apartment has been carefully and attractively decorated and each has a full bathroom. Lekeitio has all the advantages of a Basque coastal town, which has managed to retain its character and traditions, and where the narrow streets and pintxo (small typical sandwich bars) are full of atmosphere. It has three beaches and at low tide you can walk across to San Nicolás island.
Meal Information
Although the Hotel Zubieta does not have its own restaurant, it does have a café with a select choice of hot and cold dishes using exceptional local produce: Biscay white tuna, Cantabrian anchovies, cod in piquillo pepper sauce or farmhouse cheeses. Lunch and dinner around 25 €.

For stays of 1 or 2 nights: If cancelled more than 7 days prior to reservation, no hotel penalty. If cancelled within seven days of reservation the hotel will charge the amount of one night.
For stays of 3 nights or more: if cancelled within seven days of reservation, hotel will charge 30% of entire stay. In cases where client has booked three or more nights and shortens the number of days reserved (upon arrival or during stay), the hotel will charge 30% of the cost of the remaining nights. In case of no-show, 100% of complete stay charged.
Balearic & Canary Islands
If cancelled between fifteen and eight days of reservation date, the hotel will charge 50% of the total nights reserved. If cancelled seven or less days prior to reservation date, hotel will charge total amount of stay. In case of no-show, 100% of complete stay charged.

Lack of evening meal opportunities - hotel does not serve dinner and there is a limited choice of restaurants. The hotel staff did not seem to know best ones in town and some they recommended were clearly shut down. Best restaurant is nearby (Aropain) - food excellent but is expensive. ” Rating: Very Good
