We now are freindly with the owners.
We also have been to the parador at Cordona and found that wonderful, although the service was less than perfect.
We will be here another year and plan to use your website to find other lovely places. I think your rating system is good.
We also found a nice hotel in Ceret, France through your site, but couldnt go in the end because we got sick. But they were extremely nice on the phone.
Regarding France, we stayed in an excellent hotel in Miropoix, Hotel Relais Royal. Awesome, you might want to look into it.
I thought the hotel you recommended in Llivia was a little overpriced for what you got. But that is because its in the middle of ski resort country.

“Sumptuous and a joy. The children had their own food cooked for them. The view from the verandah for dinner meant was a private landscape of hills, clouds and sun. The aircon needs upgrading as it seemed to almost stop when the restaurant was going full swing. It definitely helped having the owner on site and the way he got on with his staff is no surprise why the hotel is such a treat. ”

Even though the weather was chilly and fiercely stormy during our stay, our beautiful castle room was warm, and we still enjoyed the spectacular view from our window. “Our "picky" standards and expectations were surpassed. The staff were professional, friendly, discreet and helpful all at the same time and equally open to comment when things slipped from their usual extremely high standards, such as disastrous service at breakfast one morning. It would have been nice to order a cocktail in the bar before dinner too - the poor waiter who was very pleasant etc obviously wasn´t an expert as even the sangria tasted different with every order, but we understood they were in the process of recruiting someone. Also, we loved the hotel so much that we could easily have stayed longer than the four days we were there, but even after three days of the same choices on the menu we would have appreciated a bit more choice, especially as the setting, service and quality of food and wines was so high. These criticisms however are all incredibly minor, the hotel is one of the best we have ever stayed in and wouldn´t hesitate in going back there or recommending it to others. The styling of the place is unsurpassed both of the interior and the exterior, the exotic elements blending harmoniously with the local stone architecture. The overall effect is a beautifully elegant hotel which manages to remain a relaxed and welcoming place to be while maintaining high standards of service. ”

I love the hotel. We were there last year, too. I asked for a room in the tower since we had stayed there last year. The room is beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous, and the breakfast is terrific.
Didn't Like:
I had one problem and I have several suggestions:
1. The rooms in the tower really smell musty (mildew). I don't know what can be done, but I have had the same experience on two different stays.
2. The receptionist on the day that we checked in was very friendly - just like the one we had last year. However, the other receptionist was very cold and not friendly at all. It was as if she didn't like her job.
This is NEVER going to help business.
3. We would have liked more assistance with places to visit. I knew about Peratallada so we definitely went there. However, we wasted time checking out places to eat on the Mediterranean. We finally heard about Calella - it's a great place for dinner and an easy drive for Castell d'Emporda.”

“This is a wondereful place to stay. Excellent room and hotel facilities, beautifully restored castle to an exceptional standard, with commanding unspoilt views of the Catalonia countryside. Excellent food.
The only negative was that the hotel did not have enough staff on occasions, which resulted in the bar area not being staffed. This was a frustration to a number of guests.
That said I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to all of my friends as a magical place to stay. The owner has created a very special hotel.
