This delightful small hotel in the heart of old Granada is named after the poet Federico Garcia Lorca-a much loved and revered son of Granada. The names of the rooms are taken from his poems and small books of his poetry are in each room so that you can immerse yourself in this poetic atmosphere. Located in the heart of old Granada, close to the cathedral and the many restaurants and shops, and within walking distance of the Alhambra, the small hotel has just fifteen ensuite and air conditioned rooms with a central patio. The skill with which this old building has been reconstructed and renovated is breathtaking. The original coloured floors have been uncovered, an authentic Tinaja (water jar) is exposed, the wood ceilings and brick walls are featured once again after years of being covered. The detail in the bathrooms is wonderful (with hand-carved sinks from exquisite stone) Some of the rooms have a bath and others have a shower. The beds in each room are either two individual beds or one large bed. The decoration in the rooms is bright yet elegant and with views over Granada or on to the central patio, in the typically Granadian style. There is a furnished rooftop patio with spectacular views, and this is a great place to sit after a day's sightseeing. In each room there is a television, telephone, wireless internet access. Only breakfast is served at Casa Federico (not included in the cost of your room and currently around 10 euros per person). There are hundreds of restaurants and tapas bars in the area. When the weather is good, light delicatessen items and a few good wines will be served on the rooftop patio. This is a new and exciting hotel in Granada at very reasonable prices. Please note that you are much better off NOT having a car in the old part of Granada as parking is very difficult. If you do have a car, we recommend that you park in one of the large parking garages close to the old town and either walk or take a cab to the hotel. There is no receptionist at the hotel after 11:30 p.m. and before 7:30 a.m.
Family Information
Casa Federico does not have any extra beds. The maximum number of people per room is 2.
Notes
If you wish to visit the Alhambra you need to reserve tickets and a date in advance. You can do this online at http://www.ticketmaster.es/nav/landings/en/mucho_mas/entradas_alhambra/index.html. There are many wonderful historic sites to see in Granada and it is easy to spend three or four days just soaking in this wonderful city. Try not to take a car into the old city centre as parking is impossible. There are large, secure underground parking lots on the main street for approx. 16 to 20 euros a night. Granada airport is located about 16 Kilometres west of the city near the small town of Santa Fé. The access to the airport is from the A92 Seville motorway. There are 6 departures a day for buses to the city and their timetable is designed to link up with the flight schedules. There are taxis available and several car hire companies based at the airport.

Any applicable City and regional taxes (usually in the range of 1-3 euros per person/night) are collected by the hotel at checkout.

The hotels were a godsend along our trip! We were doing a self guided tour through Bike Spain - they are the ones that booked the hotels for us. Bike Spain gave us VERY LITTLE information to guide us from destination to destination. It was the wonderful staff at your hotels that helped us SO very much. We would highly recommend the hotels to others....and have! Many thanks to each and every staff member \who helped us along the way. It was a great stay.

Loved the ambiance of the inn - stone walls, windows looking out over the city, charming and helpful staff, roof-top terrace for early morning photos and evening sunset gazing. This was our first inn in Spain and really set a wonderful tone for the trip.

Nothing. Only challenge was finding the place from the airport bus drop-off point. We needed to ask directions from the tourist office.

When we arrived late in the evening to Casa Federico, we were warmly greeted at the desk. Arriving to our room, we were thrilled with the accomodations. The decor was fabulous. Very comfortable and the bathroom was great. We didn't eat breakfast there because we found a chocolate and churro place nearby! Casa Federico was perfect!

beautiful place, in a really good location, quiet, staff were great too. as it is in an old back alley you can't drive straight up to the front door- a piece of advice for those with lots of baggage
Rating: Excellent
The hotel staff were extremely helpful when we arrived and very generously upgraded our room to the one suite in the hotel. This more than compensated for the frustrations of finding the hotel. When we return to Granada we will stay in the same hotel again, because of service, quality and style of the hotel and location, which is excellent for the city centre.

Lovely rooms and atmosphere, and really enjoyed their breakfast buffet. Only difficulty was we had to check out early, and probably did not make ourselves clear (we worked it out fine, though).

Nice location, beautiful lobby, pleasant hostess. We booked 3 rooms, all were very reasonably priced and they were all beautiful. One note though, it seemed there was only bullfighting and porn on the TV. That was a problem since our 17 year old and 15 year old shared a room. We had the staff remove the TV once we realized this. You might want to mention this to any families traveling who may not be aware of TV in Spain. Thanks for your help.

We had a lovely stay at Casa Frederico. The staff were alsways friendly and helpful despite our terrible Spanish! Very comfortable room, if a little small, which had real charm and a relaxed, orgiginal style.

This place is gorgeous. It is very "artsy" in its decor and has a lovely roof terrace. We liked Granada more than expected and wished we would have stayed more than 2 days. We appreciated the warning to order Alhambra tickets in advance. Wish we would have known earlier about the breakfast buffet. We wandered around hungry the first day. There is a lovely square very near by that is a great place to visit and hang out. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were very pleased with the hotel. The location was excellent, the view from the roof terrace accross the city was outstanding and the staff were very friendly. Rooms were small but most old city inns have small rooms. Casa Frederico had the benefit of a lift for luggage. The rooms were clean with a loft-living vibe. Bathroom and shower were spacious and both rooms airy with french windows.
Rating: Very Good
Charming hotel and charming management. Decorated with imagination and flair - very attractive bathroom. Excellent location. The negatives: The room was on the small side, with virtually no storage place for clothing (the charm made up for this however). The sole window looked out (at eye level) onto a terrace, which was available to all hotel guests. One evening we were reading in bed and saw a face at the window peering in, which was a little unnerving. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel (the dining room was actually next door) at 8 euros apiece since one could eat as well for half as much at the many bars and cafes nearby. I would stay there again, but perhaps in a different room.

You wouldn't know it was a hotel ... we walked past it 3 times! The location is excellent for exploring. We arrived by car and it was a nightmare finding the hotel, and indeed the closest car park. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The view from the roof-terrace was superb (we'd booked both the top suites and so it was on our "doorstep"). The only problem with the terrace was that if you had the room immediately below (as we did) then you could hear people moving the heavy metal furniture. The main benefit from having the top suites is that you feel that the terrace is yours!

The Casa de Frederico hotel was incredible! Teh architecture and attention to detail in each individual room truly made our stay extra special. We spent a lovely 30minutes talking with the owner and his wife about the renovation process as they restored the building and set up the hotel guests see today. They were super friendly. We had a wonderful stay and would love to go back again!

The hotel itself was a lovely surprise, it was beautiful in decor and the standard of cleanliness was high. The room was just what we needed, whilst not large in size, it provided the perfect oasis to sleep in and the bathroom was surprisinly large. The roof terrace provided a lovely views and a perfect area to sit and relax after a day of sightseeing. The staff I might add, were very helpful. The proximity of the hotel was ideal for sight seeing and dining.
Didn't Like:
There was very little not to like but I suppose a mild inconvenience is the parking situation. Also we did need to close the shutters in the bathroom due to the proximity of the neighbours accross the very narrow street. But actually that was quite amusing.

We found the receptionist service was poor. We did not get any acknowledgement from the young woman that we had had such a difficult time finding the hotel. Although the facilities for hanging clothes were a little inadequate, as were the lights in the room, and the building was quite noisy. We were on the 2nd floor and could hear voices from reception in our room, and it was particularly noisy if anyone walked past our room to get to theirs. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful and it has been a beautiful renovation of what was probably a very rundown building.

Casa Federico, Granada, was a lovely small hotel. However the room was tiny (even by English standards) and there was no wardrobe or drawers so it was a matter of keeping everything in the suitcase or piling them up on the shelf/luggage unit. However, it was nice and central, easy to find and the staff friendly ahd helpful.

our room (#15 ) was on the top floor and we were constantly subject to noise through to 2am or so of other guests going on to the rooftop terrace -great views from there but a nightmare for those rooms directly below it. Horrible lighting in room that made it almost impossible to read
Rating: Average
although the website did say rooms were small, i didn't think they would be that small. could not shower comfortably as everytime you moved your body hit the control tap and you got covered in cold water!!! by the way I am only a small person!!!
Rating: Poor
The location was convenient to sights we wanted to see and the hotel was very attactively decorated but the noise from the street outside our window made it very difficult to get a good night's sleep.
Rating: Poor
The hotel itself was just what we were looking for. Unfortunately the fact that the road outside was being dug up and relaid, starting at around 8am each morning was not very good. Whilst this was out of the control of the hotel the workmen starting drilling each morning at the same time to install air conditioning units on the lower floors was not. If some warning of this or an apology had been given then it would have been a nice gesture. It spoiled what would otherwise have been a nice stay at the hotel.
