IMPORTANT: because of the location of this little hotel, it is not recommended for those who do not wish to walk. It is NOT accessible by car and is a walk of about 150 yards on cobblestones, uphill from the Plaza Nueva. The innkeeper may be available to help carry your luggage from the Plaza to the hotel.
This charming little 17th century house, now a small hotel, is situated in a quiet part of the Albaicin with a lovely view of the Alhambra. From the second floor, look from your room to the typically Andalusian courtyard. The house was restored and renovated in 1997 and offers history and comforts of modern life - civilized bathrooms and air conditioning - in its cosy four guestrooms. The Albaicin, declared a protected area by UNESCO, is the oldest district of Granada and is within a few minutes of the town centre, the Alhambra, the cathedral and other significant monuments. Reaching the centre of Granada and parking can sometimes be tiresome, but the innkeeper will do his best to have you arrive unstressed. There is an underground Parking area on Gran Via, beside the cathedral, and Christian, the larger-than-life innkeeper, will meet you there or at the Plaza Nueva if you want help with your luggage. Breakfast is served at the house, but there are many fine restaurants close by for dinner. The innkeeper will supply maps and advice on what to see and where to go in the Albaicin. Note that this little hotel is at the top of a cobblestone hill (pedestrian only). It is not a suitable location for those who have difficulty walking. Note: no parking, no restaurant (although there are many restaurants in the vicinity).
Family Information
The hotel has rooms for two, three and four people.
Meal Information
Only breakfast is offered here - it may be served in the dining room or the courtyard.
Notes
Granada airport is located about 16 Kilometres west of the city near the small town of Santa Fé. The access to the airport is from the A92 Seville motorway. There are 6 departures a day for buses to the city and their timetable is designed to link up with the flight schedules. There are taxis available and several car hire companies based at the airport. There are buses from Seville to Granada. You must buy Alhambra tickets in advance http://www.ticketmaster.es/nav/landings/en/mucho_mas/entradas_alhambra/index.html

Any applicable City and regional taxes (usually in the range of 1-3 euros per person/night) are collected by the hotel at checkout.

Terrific. Deluxe rooms on a budget. As a family of 4, we took the large suite. Enjoyed every comfortable minute. Great beds. Very helpful and interesting proprietor, with dry sense of humor.

Mr. Most was delightful. The rooms were very nice. We enjoyed the B&B feel - breakfast with the other guests, helpfulness of the host, the special features of the garden. It was lovely.

The quiet courtyard. The Albacin is a great place to be but very busy. You can come back to Casa del Aljarife with a bottle of wine and have some peace and quiet in the courtyard.

After getting there, all was well. A great place.

A delightful hotel. Immaculate. Very carefully furnished and decorated. The most comfortable bed of our four weeks in Spain. Our host, Christian Most, was very helpful from the moment we met him in the Plaza Nueva. He had prepared a list of restaurants in the Albaicin and gave us his suggestions and personal evaluations. He personally led us to one of them that he thought might be difficult to find on our own. The hotel is a little difficult to reach when dragging a suitcase up the cobbled streets with a step every couple of metres but it's worth the climb (and it's downhill when you leave).

Thanks to Christian, our host, we had a wonderful stay in Granada. He was incredibly helpful, had an answer to all our questions, and made us feel very at home. Fantastic view of the Alhambra from our room!

This was our favorite hotel of our trip. Excellent location, our host was wonderful, very helpful and very reasonable prices. We would love to go back again, and would highly recommend it.

In spite of unusually cold weather the accommodation and hospitality was secomnd to none. We have already recommended Christian to several friends planning to visit Granada.

Very interesting place in an interesting part of town. It's up the high and further away from a road that you might imagine. The host is a little offputting at times.

We stayed in room 3, a lovely big room on the top floor with windows on both sides for light, ventilation and a view of the Alhambra. There is a very nice courtyard garden in the house. Our host, Christian, was lively and very hospitable- one evening he took us on a sunset hike to the Sacromonte barrio. From there we had more gorgeous views of the Alhambra. We loved the immediate neighborhood with it's tiny coffee shop, bars and music venues, and could easily walk to everything we wanted to see in Granada. The hotel is spotless, the bed was comfortable, it was a great choice.

Our host was friendly and welcoming. He provided information when it was requested. The rooms were spacious and charming and the courtyard was a lovely spot for enjoying a glass of wine in the sun. The location was ideal for shops and restaurants. It was very close to Alhumbra.
Rating: Very Good
The inn is beautifully restored and the room was beautiful. The neighborhood can seem a little questionable on the surface and the stairs were more of a challenge than described. Breakfast was a little too formal for my taste with Christian serving everyone. It felt awkward at times. I wouldn't recommend this to others, although I might stay there again myself.

Very comfortable room (shower very small), with pleasant views. Breakfast not value for money, and Senor Most quite intrusive in his attentions (we subsequently had better (and cheaper) breakfasts in a local cafe.

the inn is lovely, particularly the courtyard but the front bedroom was very noisy and the innkeeper is kind of abrupt in manner

(1/5) Nice location and nice room, but very unpleasant host with totally false and feigned "kindness". Avoid this hotel unless no other choice. We came in February 2005; due to an exceptionnal snow storm, the Madrid airport was closed (the previous time it happened was 22 years ago...!) and our flight was postponed to the following day. Therefore ur stay in Granade had to be reduced to 3 days instead of 4. However we had to pay for the full 4-day stay, our hotel host estimating that we informed him too late and that he did not have to support the exceptional circumstances (Did we have to?... ). No way to discuss or get a discount, or at least kind explanations with normal and polite behaviour. This added to the frustation of reduced holiday in an unsufficiently heated hotel room. We certainly won't come back in this place.

The Aljarife was aesthetically lovely but we had two teen boys with us and felt that the owner was unpleasant and unwelcoming when we arrived. He improved his demeanor a little by the time we left, but we never felt at ease when he was around.
