Casa Roja Bed and Breakfast is located in the coastal countryside outside the town of Águilas, a traditional Spanish holiday resort in the province of Murcia. Casa Roja in El Garrobillo is uniquely positioned between the hills and sea with a microclimate unparalleled in all of Spain. There´s an average yearly temperature of 25 degrees celcius with limited rainfall, and the highs of summer are tempered by the sea breezes. There are magnificent panoramic views of the sea and the unspoiled coastline and hillsides of cactus, rosemary and agave. The hotel offers three spacious and independent apartments, stylishly decorated by a professional interior designer and home-made meals are available - prepared with fresh local products by the owner who is a professional chef. To cool down in the summer, there is a large swimming pool at the property and the sea is just minutes away. This little inn accepts cash only for final payment. Weekly and daily prices available.

Notes
The local town of Águilas is a traditional Spanish holiday resort and fishing port, with long passageways by the sea to amble, a recently restored midieval castle offering magnificent hilltop views over the town and sea and a beautiful botanical square in the towns centre with café tables al fresco. A short drive inland is the baroque town of Lorca and the shrine of Caravaca de la Cruz, and a day trip could be spent visiting the Alhambra in Granada, or the wine vineyards of Jumilla. The local coastline is dotted with coves ideal for snorkelling or a private swim, and the white sand beaches of Calnegre are nearby. Flexible check in and check out times. There are a couple of restaurants a short drive from the House and plenty of local shops in the nearby town of Aguilas, but not much within walking distance, as they are in the countryside.

Eva and Robert were extremely kind and welcoming and gave us useful information throughout our stay. On our first night they entertained us with a wonderful dinner (fish perfectly cooked by Robert)in their home, rather than outside, as the weather was cool by local standards. The rooms were large, airy and tastefully furnished and decorated. The view over the coastline from the terrace outside our room was beautiful. The pool looked very inviting though we never had an opportunity to use it (the sea was still warm enough for swimming in late October). We were the only people staying that weekend and felt more privileged than we would have done staying in a luxury hotel. It all made for a thoroughly relaxing long weekend.

Robert and Eva are very friendly and 'natural' hosts. Robert is a great cook. Casa Roja has beautiful surroundings and the room/apartment we were in was 'complete' and it was tastefully decorated. It also has a great view. Last but not least the location of Casa Roja is, as far as I know, one of the last parts of the Spanish Mediterranian Coast that is 'not spoiled' by massive tourism, golf courts and 'import' restaurants and pubs.

Nothing it was great! The is a motorway running a short way behind the hotel but this should not put people off as it is so quiet and does not detract from the tranqullity of the area at all, in fact it makes access to Casa Roja really easy.
