“Really nice place and really nice staff. At one point over
the weekend before Christmas I think we were the only guests
in the hotel! It's odd having a hotel run only for oneself, however
inadvertently! It was nice to see other guests arrive later on
Christmas Eve!
THis is not a criticism of the Acacia - as near as we can tell after
many years of traveling, all European hotels are under-ventillated, over-heated
stuffy and smell faintly or strongly of smoke. The Acacia can't do much about
the ventillation because it's designed the way it is - thank heavens the bathroom
window opened! But they really could consider at least a partial no-smoking
policy. They are new enough, with a clientele that I would think is upscale and
educated enough that it might work.
We would definitely go there again, although I do think that
people planning to use the 1 bedroom apartments for three, should
be warned that the "wall" between the bedroom and living room
is not all the way to the ceiling - it is just a divider, so there
is little privacy. Also, the bathroom must be entered through the
bedroom. It's a fine set up for 3 friends, or for a family with
children - just so long as everyone is aware of the privacy issue.
It's really a studio apartment with "privacy" divider!
