On the island of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and in the middle of a banana plantation, is this charming small luxury hotel. Housed in a building dating back to the sixteenth century, it was once a farm and home of the Duchess of Aracas. Built of stone and terra cotta, the style is pure Canarian and the eighteen guestrooms are a delight, with comfortable furniture, antiques, exquisite decoration and state of the art bathrooms. There are thirteen double rooms and five luxurious suites. The restaurant Alpende serves regional food, fresh and beautifully presented and with a modern twist on traditional themes. The restaurant overlooks the garden to the rear and the terrace to the front and has its own bar. There is a swimming pool with a large terrace and a pretty arcade of arches surrounding it. A great place to relax. Other facilities include a fitness room and spa (with a Jacuzzi and several pieces of gym equipment) . A car is essential to reach this location.

Very peaceful setting and interesting building. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Didn't Like:
The breakfasts were adequate but not exceptional - however we ate one evening meal at the hotel which was very disappointing and did not try again. We had booked a Junior Suite but the room we were allocated on arrival was under the eaves of the house and was very dark. The entrance hall containded one chair and a mini-bar and then we had to go up steep wooden stairs which were poorly lit to the bedroom. We did not feel this room could be descibed as a Junior Suite. However, we did ask if we could be allocated another room an when a standard room became available on the third day of our stay we were able to move.”
