There is a 3 night minimum stay over Easter and high season. In Extra Season the hotel requires a non-refundable 50% deposit of the reservation.
Just off a street beside the main square in the old quarter of Arcos, is this palatial house dating to 1729 with magnificent views across the Arcos cathedral. Elena is an enthusiastic young host of the Big House. Rooms vary in size, and have lovely arabic tiles, antiques, wooden ceilings, terracotta floors. The owner has paid great attention to detail in decorating the house -- the rooms are bright, colourful and whimsical. Two suites, one with fully equipped kitchen, have en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, radio, television and phone. Breakfast and excellent tapas with wine are served on the spacious terrace overlooking Arcos. There are many tapas restaurants nearby that are excellent. Note that parking is a nightmare in Arcos old town. There is parking close to the Parador but it fills up quickly and is rather a hair-raising experience if you have a large car. It would be better to park outside the old town and take a cab in or walk to the hotel. This inn is not accessible by car. You can also enjoy a relaxing massage at La Casa Grande: reflexotherapy (foot, head & hand massage), reiki, back massage and lymphatic massage. Please, reserve in advance.

Fantastic location and views. Lovely simple breakfast (freshly sqeezed orange, local cheese/ham/pastries). 10/10!

Fantastic hotel! Glad to be able to book the roof top suite as the location and the views were terrific. The attention to detail made it very special and a real find. Breakfast, nice bathroom cosmetics, music in the rooms and drinks on the terrace...all very special.

This hotel is very lovely. It isn't accessible by car; you must park two blocks away and walk, which may be a problem for an older guest. The innkeepers are very welcoming. Directions would be helpful! Information on the cost of meals would be helpful.

La Casa Grande was magic. Like staying in a different world. Loved it. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. The scenery was amazing. However, parking was a nightmare, but worth the inconvenience for a night or two, however, tea making facilities in the rooms would be a pleasant touch, after having to walk up from the town it would be nice to have a drink available in the rooms at no extra expense, particularly as parking in the lower town already adds costs to ones holiday.

We would highly recommend staying at La Casa Grande. The hosts are warm and friendly, and informative. The setting is dramatic yet intimate. The building is very old, but well maintained and very charming. Only problem is parking -- need to be prepared to park about 1/2 mile away and walk the rest of the way. Parking by the nearby Parador is almost always full. But this inconvenience is WELL worth the trouble once you get there!

One of the most amazing places we have ever stayed (have travelled widely). Loved: site with views, charming owner, courteous and attentive staff, extra services available (such as massage and wonderful guide for walking tour of city), renovation of house dating to 1700s, poetry on walls, and lovely breakfast.

Bad restaurant recommendation...Bilbao....I wouldn't send my dog to eat there. Don't know why an otherwise very helpful staff...Matteus...would recommend such a bad place.

Lovely setting; room exactly as displayed in web site; hospitable hosts; excellent breakfast but late availability (9.30) that day slowed us down.

Charming hotel with quirky rooms and a great view.

The hotel is in a excellent position and is beautiful inside with a spectacular clifftop location. We had a beautiful room with our own balcony, the only minus point being the smell of raw sewage from the balcony. If I went there again, I'd ask for a room on the second floor.

The location was excellent, the staff very thoughful and the rooms very well kept. The decor, the lovely terrace and breakfast in the courtyard is what I will always remember. A few things to remember though. You cannot drive all the way to the door, so remember to pack lightly and in small bags for the hike from the car to the hotel. There is a phone in the room but it is difficult to recieve calls late in the evening when there is nobody at the reception.

The only drawback of the hotel was that the sewage was discharged right below our terrace.

Junior suite had no door on the bathroom (intentionally).Inappropriate for 3 adults who were fortunately related. Need to warn of difficult access if somewhat restricted mobility.

Lovely hotel and very helpful staff. Being welcomed with a sherry & olives was a lovely touch.
