Random Feedback:
“We would highly recommend staying at La Casa Grande. The hosts are warm and friendly, and informative. The setting is dramatic yet intimate. The building is very old, but well maintained and very charming. Only problem is parking -- need to be prepared to park about 1/2 mile away and walk the rest of the way. Parking by the nearby Parador is almost always full. But this inconvenience is WELL worth the trouble once you get there!”

There is a 3 night minimum stay over Easter and high season. In Extra Season the hotel requires a non-refundable 50% deposit of the reservation.
Just off a street beside the main square in the old quarter of Arcos, is this palatial house dating to 1729 with magnificent views across the Arcos cathedral. Elena is an enthusiastic young host of the Big House. Rooms vary in size, and have lovely arabic tiles, antiques, wooden ceilings, terracotta floors. The owner has paid great attention to detail in decorating the house -- the rooms are bright, colourful and whimsical. Two suites, one with fully equipped kitchen, have en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, radio, television and phone. Breakfast and excellent tapas with wine are served on the spacious terrace overlooking Arcos. There are many tapas restaurants nearby that are excellent. Note that parking is a nightmare in Arcos old town. There is parking close to the Parador but it fills up quickly and is rather a hair-raising experience if you have a large car. It would be better to park outside the old town and take a cab in or walk to the hotel. This inn is not accessible by car.

This hotel is very lovely. It isn't accessible by car; you must park two blocks away and walk, which may be a problem for an older guest. The innkeepers are very welcoming. Directions would be helpful! Information on the cost of meals would be helpful.

La Casa Grande was magic. Like staying in a different world. Loved it. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. The scenery was amazing. However, parking was a nightmare, but worth the inconvenience for a night or two, however, tea making facilities in the rooms would be a pleasant touch, after having to walk up from the town it would be nice to have a drink available in the rooms at no extra expense, particularly as parking in the lower town already adds costs to ones holiday.
