A few metres away from the wall of the medieval castle many rooms overlook fields of olive and almond trees. Because of its metre-thick walls, the house stays very cool in the summer months when it can be extremely hot outside. The house has been sensitively restored and decorated maintaining much of the original stone and wood features. The rooms are decorated in rich ochres and are filled with colourful furniture and art giving a warmth and interest that is suprising. There are lots of medieval, Arabic and archaeological sites to explore in the area. There is a wonderful Museum of Contemporary Art within a 2 minute walk of the inn (a very good museum too and in a very unexpected place!) Off season there are very few restaurants in the village, but Gloria, the owner, can recommend some within a 15 minute drive. Parking can be a little difficult as the village streets are so narrow, but unpack your bags outside the inn and Gloria will explain where to park (just 1 or 2 minutes away). This is a small, historic village with few restaurants, bars or 'entertainment' and is probably ideal for stays of 2 or 3 days for those who want to visit the Museum of Contemporary Art and explore surrounding areas. A recent client commented: We stayed at El Jardin Vertical for 10 days in late June/early July and we had a fantastic holiday. The hotel is wonderful - so calm, and so beautifully and artistically decorated and furnished. We were lucky enough to have a room with a view across the fields of almond trees towards the hills and mountains and it was blissful to just sit and admire the view! Gloria, the owner, and her staff were so welcoming and made us feel very at home. Click to make a request for this hotel

Central heating didn't work and we struggled to get computer network connection. Owner /manager very attentive - we were the only ones staying.

We were disappointed that we'd paid for a superior room, only to have a view of the wall opposite. Also, the water in the shower was tepid rather than hot. Otherwise, the hotel was very beautiful & in a lovely location.

Stay, room and place in general was exactly what we were expecting. Food however was not that good and quite expensive for the quality offered.
