La Vida de Antes

This delightful little inn in Consuegra (48 miles south of Madrid and 50 kms south of Toledo) has just nine pleasant rooms - four of them with their own salon. All the rooms surround a central, colourful patio and each has a different decor (all with private bathroom of course). The building has been carefully adapted for use as a small hotel, and many of the original features and antiques are featured in the rooms. There are two rooms suitable for families (duplex) and also two communicating rooms. The rooms are spacious and bright with big, double-glazed windows and modern bathrooms. The amenities include wi-fi and hairdriers in the bathrooms. Paintings, sculptures and photographs fill the public spaces with a permanent art exhibition. There is a pleasant little restaurant serving breakfast and dinner and there are restaurants in the vicinity. Consuegra has several claims to fame: it is the saffron capital of La Mancha and, above the town are a ruined castle and hills topped by the famous windmills - with whom Don Quixote battled.
