Soller is popular with those who enjoy hiking and trekking in the Serra de Tramuntana. Nature, ecotourism, beaches or just relaxing by the sea and enjoying some wonderful restaurants, all contribute to making Soller a popular place. There are two parts to Soller – the Port de Soller and the town which lies about 3 km inland in a valley, near both Fornalutx and Biniaraix. Thet own of Deia is a little further down the coast. Sóller has two museums and a well-known botanical garden, as well as a rich architectural heritage - some of the houses in the old town date back to the fourteenth century. There is a much-loved train service that goes through the mountains and over the plain to Palma which also links up with the local tram that runs through the Port of Soller orange groves. The trains have been running since 1912, and still retain their original character. |
