El Jardin del Conde

75 km from Salamanca in the deep countryside is this small, simple, rural inn built in the grounds of a botanical garden created in the 19th century by the Count of Trespalacios. The garden has been preserved and the small hotel called Garden of the Count is now a resting place for travellers who want to explore the countryside and the attractions of the area -- Las Batuecas, las Hurdes, Las Mestas, the ruins of Caparra, the Sierra de Bejar. Horseriding is available nearby and this is the perfect place to walk in the forest or simply relax. The double rooms are simple and small (but with telephone and television), all ensuite, and each has its own independent access. If you wish a more spacious room, then a suite is recommended. There is one suite with 2 bedrooms and a small salon, with bathroom, for 4 people. The small restaurant serves regional foods (menu price approx 9 euros). The hotel is approximately mid-way between Salamanca and Plasencia.
