Júzcar is situated in the Alto del Genal, which is in the Serrania de Ronda region, extending from the Jarastepar peak, at 1,425 metres above sea level, to the municipalities of Estepona and Benahavís. Visit the Tin Factory - the first ever factory set up in Spain for the production of tin was built in Júzcar according to a book published by Altos Hornos de Vizcaya, the biggest foundry in the country. The Church of Santa Catalina is the most interesting building in the village. It dates from the 16th century. There are several Fiestas in the area. The festival in honour of the town's patron saint, the Virgen del Moclón, takes place from 24 to 26 August. This is the biggest festive event in the year and people come from far and near to participate and enjoy the festival. The Day of San José is also an important date taking place on 19 March, and the Romería, that is held at the end June. The tradition of the El Niño del Huerto on Easter Sunday is celebrated here as in neighbouring Igualeja.

Hotel Bandolero

Hotel Bandolero is a friendly, small rural hotel and restaurant located at the entrance of a tiny, charming white village surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. The village of Júzcar is one of seven white villages of the Upper Genal Valley, a yet to be discovered area, located in the Ronda Mountains 22 km. from the town of Ronda in Málaga province. It is an unspoiled area, and one where the traditional way of life still exists. The hotel was originally opened in 2001 and is constructed in a rustic style with the creature comforts of country living. The restaurant, La Bodega del Bandolero, offers Spanish mountain country cuisine prepared by Cordon Bleu trained chef Ivan Sastre while homemade tapas are offered in the bar, El Tempranillo. There are eight double rooms (including two suites), a breakfast and dining room, restaurant, bar and terrace, lounge and swimming pool. Six of the rooms have fireplaces or wood burning stoves and terraces with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. All rooms have been decorated in a rustic style and have en-suite bathrooms; the rooms also include a television, coffee and tea making facilities and central heating; the suites also include sitting areas with DVD players. The restaurant offers very special meals. A typical menu includes ensalada de la casa con castañas (house salad with chestnuts), suprema de cochinillo con salsa de miel y especias con un chupito de caldo de su jugo (suckling pig supreme with honey & spice sauce served with a shot of its own broth), solomillo de cerdo ibérico relleno con castañas y ciruelas (pork tenderloin stuffed with chestnuts and prunes) or Chuletón de Ávila, a 450 gram specialty steak from Ávila and finished off with crema quemada de castañas (baked cream infused with chestnut purée and topped with burnt sugar) or a Muira (puff pastry filled with white chocolate, almond cream and cherry liquor soaked cherries topped with a cherry sauce and served with vanilla ice cream). The hotel also offers some theme holidays such as painting (pastels, oils and water colours), walking holidays in the Genal Valley and beyond, guided bird watching holidays, extreme outdoor adventure package, and wine tasting weekends featuring locally produced Ronda wines. Some of the packages may be individually tailored to meet your specific needs.
