Cortijo La Reina

This luxurious hotel is situated in a garden full of very old trees, with a swimming pool and tennis court, pelota court, and French bowls. The Cortijo has three buildings: the main building with ten double rooms (all en suite of course) and a suite with jacuzzi on the top floor; a building with two en suite rooms and flat terrace for sunbathing and a third building, an annex with six suites and a private yard. All the bedrooms are equipped with a fireplace or wood burning stove, air conditioning, heating, television, telephone, minibar and full heated bathroom. The common areas (with fireplaces for chilly evenings) include a bar with games room, a private restaurant, an Andalusian kitchen, a barbecue, and cellar. The hotel is situated near the Montes de Malaga Natural Park, 30 minutes from the airport. The hotel is 800 metres above sea level, and has beautiful views to the sea and the valley. Close to the hotel are Colmenar, Archidona, Casabermeja and other villages in the Montes de Malaga region. Many golf courses are also in the region. This is a perfect spot for those who enjoy walking, bird watching and outdoor activities. It is important that you reserve a table for dinner (if you plan on having dinner the night of your arrival).

On Nov/08/07 DP wrote: Rating: Average The room was large and well appointed. The walls were very thin however and noise from other rooms was very noticeable. The restaurant was a great disappointment. What was listed as a prawn dinner, was served as three very small shrimp. We has a good laugh and made the mistake of eating there only once. The hotel obviously caters to a captive audience of guests attending weddings at the adjacent party facility, who need a convenient place to stay after attending a celebration in this relatively remote location. Worth a stay, but avoid the restaurant.
