Casa Federico

This delightful new small hotel in the heart of old Granada is named after the poet Federico Garcia Lorca-a much loved and revered son of Granada. The names of the rooms are taken from his poems and small books of his poetry are in each room so that you can immerse yourself in this poetic atmosphere. Located in the heart of old Granada, close to the cathedral and the many restaurants and shops, and within walking distance of the Alhambra, the small hotel has just fifteen ensuite and air conditioned rooms with a central patio. The skill with which this old building has been reconstructed and renovated is breathtaking. The original coloured floors have been uncovered, an authentic Tinaja (water jar) is exposed, the wood ceilings and brick walls are featured once again after years of being covered. The detail in the bathrooms is wonderful (with hand-carved sinks from exquisite stone) Some of the rooms have a bath and others have a shower. The beds in each room are either two individual beds or one large bed. The decoration in the rooms is bright yet elegant and with views over Granada or on to the central patio, in the typically Granadian style. There is a furnished rooftop patio with spectacular views, and this is a great place to sit after a day's sightseeing. In each room there is a television, telephone, wireless internet access. Only breakfast is served at Casa Federico, but there are hundreds of restaurants and tapas bars in the area. When the weather is good, light delicatessen items and a few good wines will be served on the rooftop patio. This is a new and exciting hotel in Granada at very reasonable prices. We highly recommend it. Please note that you are much better off NOT having a car in the old part of Granada as parking is impossible. If you do have a car, you must park in one of the large parking garages close to the old town and either walk or take a cab to the hotel. BREAKFAST IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF YOUR ROOM.
