Castell de Emporda

This hotel is very popular with our clients as it has a friendly, informal feel and very professional service. Where else can you stay in a luxurious room in an eight hundred year old castle? It is a unique base from which to enjoy this fascinating area. Located on top of a massif, the Puig d'En Marenys, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, the castle once belonged to Pere Margarit, a captain who served under Christopher Columbus, and it was carefully and authentically restored as a stylish, unforgettable hotel. Each room in the castle has its own style and atmosphere and from every room the view over the green and rolling landscape is spectacular. The restaurant is of high quality, yet not stuffy or formal, with dishes made from produce from the Castle's garden or the neighbouring farms and markets or from nearby fishing villages.There is a fixed price lunch menu at around 20 euros and dinner is approximately 46 euros. It is important to reserve in advance as the restaurant is very busy. There is a lovely heated swimming pool and extensive terrace at the Castell (or the Mediterranean is just a 15 minute drive). Castillo is located inside the Castle, most garden rooms have a balcony, Suite Pere Margarit is the principal room, Tower room has a shower and the garden suites have a sitting area and a terrace (and king beds). All rooms have one big bed. If you require a twin room please specify this when you reserve. There are no twin rooms available in the Tower. Garden Suites have flat screen TV, HIFI , DVD, safe deposit box, minibar and telephone. There are five golf courses in the immediate vicinity and we can book these for you at the time of making your hotel reservation. From skiing and climbing to sailing and deep sea diving, everything is possible using the Castle as a base.
