Hotels in Gaucin

Where

Gaucin is a mountain village, located inland about half an hour’s drive from the Costa del Sol in Southern Andalusia. It is about a forty minute drive to Ronda.

When

Gaucin has sun almost every day from June to September with highs of 35c and lows of 15c. Very mild winter temperatures, but can get very heavy rain. Highs during the day of around 20C and lows during cooler winter nights rarely below 10c.

Why

The area around Gaucin has excellent hiking, birdwatching, mountain biking, horseriding, and golf. Because of its proximity to Ronda, it is easy to make day trips from Gaucin. It is a delightful mountain village with sweeping views to Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of North Africa. The village is set against the looming dark backdrop of the Serranía de Ronda where, depending on the time of year, you can enjoy many wild flowers including poppies, yellow mimosa, wild orchids, and almond blossom. Gaucin has a lot of ex-patriot residents (you will hear more English spoken here than Spanish!).

Accommodation

We have three special hotels in Gaucin: Hotel Casablanca and La Fructuosa (in the heart of town) and Hacienda la Herriza in the countryside just outside town. We can offer four or five small rural properties between Gaucin and Ronda, if you prefer to be in the countryside.
