Opening in May of this year, this two hundred year old Andalusian country mansion has been skillfully restored to its original splendor, with some sensitive updating to make it a lovely and luxurious small hotel with just thirteen air conditioned guest suites. The guest rooms have underfloor heating and are furnished with teak four-poster beds or super kingsize beds (with the finest Egyptian cotton bedding), flat screen television with DVD and CD player, hairdryer, minibar, safe and tea and coffee-making facilities. The guest suites are provided fresh fruit and flowers. Some of the suites have walk-in dressing rooms and all have furnished terrace or balcony with garden and mountain views. There are two groundfloor suites that look out on to the courtyard. The Cortijo La Prensa offers Spanish and international cuisine and has an excellent winelist (important – reserve lunch or dinner in advance). There is a freshwater swimming pool, Jacuzzi and gym on the ten acre property surrounded by olive groves and gardens. The setting is on the banks of two rivers and is surrounded by mountain ranges in the heart of Andalusia. This would make an excellent base from which to explore the exciting, historical cities of Granada, Sevilla and Malaga.
