|
Where |
Castilla y Leon is located between Madrid and the border with Portugal. It lies on the Iberian peninsula's central plateau. |
|
When |
The weather in the region can be unbearably hot in the height of summer and rather cold (due to the high altitude) during the winter. Spring and summer are the best time to travel. |
|
Why |
The region has a rich historical heritage, especially from the medieval period. Salamanca is the site of Spain's oldest university (and one of the oldest in Europe), Avila offers an amazingly well preserved wall around its old quarter, and there is even a Roman aqueduct in the town of Segovia. |

Accommodation |
We have several wonderful inns and hotels in this region - some are in the urban centers, but most of them are tucked away in the surrounding countryside and villages. |
