Click to make a request for this hotel Click to view contact information Click to view larger photos for this hotel Located in La Mancha, just 9 kilometres from Ciudad Real, flanked on the west by the Guadiana river and on the north by the Toledo mountains, this new, modern hotel and winery is a special place indeed. Completed in May of 2005, it has just twenty four guest rooms, each decorated in a different style. Staying here gives you an opportunity to learn about the culture of wine and to enjoy eno-tourism at its best, with guided visits through the winery and vineyard and tasting courses. The different varieties of grape are used exclusively for the wines produced in the winery, located at the foot of the vineyard. The winery was founded in 2000 and is not a part of the traditional D.O. system, producing "vinos de la tierra de Castilla". This gives the winery the freedom to explore every aspect of production from growing the grapes to bottling. The restaurant, built right inside the winery, has views of the wine cellar and the vineyard and a magnificent terrace in the garden to savour the excellent dishes of Chef Jose Alfonso Merlo. There is an outdoor swimming pool and gardens around the building. The staff are young, enthusiastic and passionate about wines and wine-growing and will be pleased to help you plan excursions in this fascinating area. Click to make a request for this hotel

We were a little disappointed because we were not told ahead of time that the restaurant was not open and there was not any wine tasting. But, the hotel staff was very nice and gave us a bottle of wine as a gift. We enjoyed our stay!

Pago del Vicario was excellent if a little hard to find. Their sign is small on a small road and we missed it. A better map would have been nice, but the hotel and the staff were definately first rate. Thank you, we had a very nice time in Spain.
