This is the location of Cardadomo, a warm and peaceful place to stay. The hotel interweaves texture and light from the quiet countryside, with its relaxing interiors featuring music, delicate silk and velvet, stone and wood, medieval art, and luxurious feather duvets. Outside is a romantic little square, a charming fig-tree shaded garden and views of the vast plain all around. The small restaurant serves light meals with good wines. There is currently a joint-project between the National Gastronomy Institute in Sigüenza, under the sponsorship of the Culinary Institute of America, which offers Masters degrees for chefs (hence the abundance of great places to eat in and around Siguenza). In the area are horse riding routes, Romanesque route, route of the Henares Valley castles (and Siguenza and Atienza are definitely worth visiting), water sports, hiking rooms, balloon rides and the salt mines in the Salado River basin. The hotel offers good sized, well-equipped meeting rooms for either ten or twenty people and complete retreats can be organized. There is internet at the hotel, an exterior car park, lounge with fireplace, bar, laundry service, baby-sitting service, and television room. We find this hotel is good place to spend a first or last night when arriving or departing from Barajas airport. The journey takes about an hour and a half by car on easy highways.
