Where |
Burgos, in northwest Spain, sits at the northern edge of the central plateau. It is the capital of the province of Burgos (in Castilla-Leon). |
|
When |
The weather can be quite chilly during the winter months due to the fairly high elevation of the city. Late spring and early fall are perhaps the most agreeable times to visit. |
|
Why |
The city is a town well worth visiting for its ancient history and monuments (and festivals throughout the year making its medieval history come alive). For many centuries Burgos was the capital of Castille and Leon. Burgos has more ecclesiastical monuments than any other city in Spain, the three most significant being the cathedral, with its chapel of the Condestable, the monastery of Las Huelgas and the Carthusian monastery of Miraflores. |
