Torre Marti

At the foot of the Guilleries, in the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees town of Sant Julia de Vilatorta is this charming Manor House constructed in 1945 by the architect Riera Clariana. The Morral family has transformed this mansion into an intimate and attractive hotel decorated with elegant furniture and amazing art. Comments in the guestbook are often clever drawings and sketches, along with glowing compliments. The spacious rooms offer such modern facilities as satellite television, high speed internet access, safe and minibar. Some of the rooms have air conditioning and all have fans. Some of the rooms are in the main house (two with balcony) and some are in a separate new wing. There is a modernist dining room offering an interesting gastronomic menu (average price of dinner 40 euros pp with house wine included, but please reserve in advance). In the summer, you may dine outside. There is a reading room and lounge full of paintings, sculpture, music and literature - a perfect symbiosis of style and elegance. There is also an interior patio, terrace and very pretty and extensive garden full of trees. There is a small swimming pool open in the summer months. We loved the ambience of this small hotel: it has a delightful owner, lovely rooms, interesting art everywhere and a very pleasant garden. Highly recommended.
