Mas Ferrer

Snug in the green countryside at the foothills of the Natural Park of Montseny, this 12th to 14th century mas is one of the oldest farmhouses in the area. It still has a Romanesque arcade and Montse and Manual, the owners, have restored it to a sanctuary of peace and quiet from which to explore nearby villages and parks. There is a pleasant swimming pool in the garden and many relaxing places to sit. There are large windows in the dining room and lounges to capture the light and lovely views. The rooms are spacious, colourful and simply decorated. Some of the bathrooms have jacuzzi baths and all of them have particularly modernistic fixtures. Montse, the owner, is chef in the dining room and the food is renowned for its regional cuisine and attention to detail. A favourite restaurant (and chef) of our staff. Half board available at suppl. 32 euros per person. We highly recommend this hotel for those who want to explore Barcelona in the daytime, and retreat to peace and quiet at night. A taxi from the hotel to San Celoni train station is less than 6 euros and the train to Barcelona is about 30 minutes, or of course you can leave your car at the station and take the train in. A taxi from the city centre to Mas Ferrer will cost approximately 54 euros, and from the airport about 60 euros. The hotel is dog-friendly (the owners have dogs) but dogs are not allowed in the rooms.
