Artisans of the region helped in the restoration of the original metal, stone and wood and the result has been very pleasing. Set in the countryside, near the Voltoya river and 3 km. from Tolbanos, it is a wonderful location for walking. In the interior, a salon with fireplace has a section of glass floor so that you can see the water of the mill below. There is a library and three beautiful guestrooms, all named after the seasons of the year. The decoration is in harmony with the mill's surroundings, peaceful and relaxing. One can make excursions to Avila (18 km) and Madrigal de las Torres, birthplace of Isabel la Catolica. Please note that this little inn is definitely off-the-beaten track in the heart of the countryside. Click to make a request for this hotel

One of the highlights of a recent trip to Spain. Buried in the countryside, yet only about 16 km from Avila, it is an ideal base from which to explore the region. The three bedroom mill has real character and is tastefully decorated by people with eclectic interests. Two glass windows in the floor provide an added element of interest as one can watch the rush of water in the millrace beneath one's feet. It was simply wonderful to stoke the fireplace after dinner and sit there listening to classical music as the day wound down. Javier and his wife were very gracious and had an exceptional knowledge of the region. For those of you who read Spanish, there is also a very good library which includes resources on natural and cultural history of the area. We hope to return some day.

We would give this place better than excellent if we could. Can you convey our gratitude to our hosts and explain a small mix up? We arranged for dinner our last evening. Just before dinner time our host asked a question. We did not understand and thought he was asking us if we wanted an appetizer and said no, unfortunately he thought we had turned down his dinner and he left. We thought about trying to explain the next day but our Spanish was so rudimentary we thought we might offend him, or make him feel badly because we were left without dinner (there was fruit and cheese so no problem). We laughed about it later but had intended to sample their excellent country cooking one more time. As we had made him drive out to the inn for nothing please convey our appology and explanation lest he think Canadian women are really fickle.

Absolutely delightful and our hosts couldn´t have been nicer. Quite honestly it was the nicest place we stayed throughout our ten day tour of the Gredos etc.

The owners were incredibly wonderful and welcoming. The road to get to the inn is definitely challenging, and the first time you drive it you wonder, "Where the *&^$% is this place!?" But the welcome you get and the charm of the inn more than make up for the inconvenience of the road. The owners speak virtually no English, which was unfortunate for us, but they were very warm, delightful people.
