Where
These regions are in northern Spain, bordered by the Bay of Biscay to the north, Galicia to the west, and the Basque Country to the East.
When
In the winter months it can be rather wet; however, the proximity of the ocean ensures mild weather. Late Spring through early fall are the best times to travel.
Why
This region is renowned for its varied landscape - especially the Cantabrian mountains which seem to plunge directly into the sea. There is terrific seafood in the region as well. Near Santandar you can arrange a trip to the Altamira cave with its famous paleolithic art.
Accommodation
We have dozens of delightful inns and hotels throughout Asturias and Cantabria. Most of these are charming little hotels near the coast, but there are several further inland as well.
