In prehistoric times the basin of Baza was filled by a huge blue lake and until forty years ago this savage and beautiful part of the province of Granada had just a few hamlets carved into the hills around the barren lands formed by the drying out of the old lake. Today, restored and enhanced, is one of these hamlets offering unique and interesting accommodation. There is a hammam offering all sorts of relaxing treatments and an excellent little restaurant offering Arab-Andalucian andf French dishes. The traditional Hammam is one of Baza's most unusual sights. It is constructed completely in a Troglodyte cave and inside there is a natural solarium, hot bath, warm room and cold baths, and a massage room. The caves have "natural" air conditioning maintaining a constant temperature of between 18-20 degrees throughout the year. The Al Jatib is a romantic place to stay and relax. The cave facilities are self-catering, with fully equipped kitchens, and include one or two bedrooms, a living room with fireplace, central heating, complete shower and toilet facilities, and a sun terrace. The larger caves are also suitable for families with children. There are discounts for stays of 3 or 6 days or more. Click to make a request for this hotel

Novel but lovely little fully contained cave houses. Particularly a hit with our children (14 & 7 yrs). Fantastic food in the restaurant. Would recommend to everyone to sit outside and eat/drink watching the sunset. No English spoken by reception staff though.

The caves were unbelievable and the service and food excellent. We used this as a stop off between staying in the South and West of Spain and the children enjoyed it so much that they want to stay longer next year!
