Introduction

Where

Mallorca is one of the Ballearic Islands that lie off the east coast of Spain.   Alcudia is located on the north of the island and is about 62 km. from Palma. The actual port and holiday resort of Alcudia, where most of the hotels are located is at the western end of the  Bay of Alcudia and the original old town of Alcudia is 2 miles inland from the coastal development.

When

The weather is mild year-round but perhaps the best times to visit are spring and early fall. Summer can be busy.

Why

Alcudia is an historic town with both Roman and Moorish influences. The town is in two parts, Puerto Alcudia is a modern resort with beautiful beaches and the old town of Alcudia, parts of which date back to around 1300.  The Romans made Alcudia the capital of the island, and it has narrow streets and impressive city walls.  There is a two hour guided tour of the town every Wednesday at noon, organized by the local tourist office.  There are many beautiful hotels and restaurants in this vibrant city. Highly recommended.

Accommodation

We have some special small hotels in the very centre of Alcudia, and several inns in the countryside within a ten mile radius.
